Loved Jessica and Running Wolf.. I liked the setting, I loved their fights between them. I loved how caring some of the tribe was to her. I enjoyed learning the ways of a tribe. the only thing I didn't like was the ending. she was very descriptive through the whole book in my opinion and then at the ending it was like chopped off.. I would enjoy reading more of her books I do understand this is a first novel and I am proud of the author. I would like to see a second book to finish letting us know what happened to the other tribe members that She brought into the story like that was kind of left hanging.. like Brown Eagle, and Yellow Woman's Sister ((sorry cant remember her name)) and some of the others that we was told about.. I felt she kind of left us hanging with those... that the ONLY reason she didn't get five stars. also I want to say a BIG thank you for putting her Novel free for a while!! That is very nice of her to think about the readers give them a treat at a free book.

YES I recommend this book for others to read.. I hope the author will put up a second book.

Savage Forest Savage Romance Series Book 1 edition by Jessica Leigh Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This is a good book to read..over time I read over 1000 books..most Historical and Paranormal Romance books..Most my are free from the store...sometimes it is hard for me to find a good book that will keep my attention ..this book was good..the Author did a great job...
The author's description's in this book made me feel like I was right in the middle of this story. The sounds, smells, sweat just wonderful writing, first time reading this author's books, I will definitely be reading more of her work. On to book two in this series.
Savage Forest - Jessica Leigh

Jenna is a Swedish immigrant who was living with her father in the Dutch colony in New Amstel in what is now New York. An incident happened that lead to bloodshed due to the language barrier of the Lenni Lenape Indians and Jenna and her father.

Jenna is taken captive by the Lenni Lenape Indians of the Minisi tribe. Running Wolf takes her back to his people and she stays with his parents in their lodge until the council decides on her fate. In the meantime, Jenna is taught the ways of the Minsi Tribe by Willow Plume who is Running Wolf's mother. Jenna learns quickly and it was decided by Soaring Eagle that Jenna was to be given to Running Wolf as a gift. As Jenna stays with Running Wolf they both start to have feelings for each other, but yet they don't actually know how to show it to the other. They both are stubborn and will not realize they both need to grieve for the ones that they have lost before they can move on with their lives.

The storyline is great! However, I felt the romance between Running Wolf and Jenna was long winded. The story should have ended once both Yellow Woman and Stands with a fist have been banished by the tribe.

I'm rather surprised that Jenna was able to keep her white name. Once captives whether they are slaves or have been adopted by the natives would have been given an Indian name. This could have been reflected when Jenna went on that hunting party when they were tracking that cougar or when she was inducted as becoming a Medicine Woman.
But the leading male is not consistent. No man would act the way he does he would fight for Jenna more if he actually cared also he is just kind of mean and rapist like. But most of all he is not a consistent character humans act in ways that have some reason to them. He isn’t just an a-hole she is literally inconsistent with his identity which makes no sense because all the other characters are so well developed. Oh also he is just a d#$$
I confess I am not that interested in American historical romance (or Native American/Indian)and this is the first of the genre I have ever read. This book held my interest through two grueling hours on the stairmaster. I was definitely won over when Running Wolf went after Jenna; it was just so sweet and incredibly romantic. I agree with what has been said about editing and grammar but the talent for storytelling is quite apparent.
Loved, loved this book!! It really spoke to my Native American heritage; I know....lots of people say this, but I have written and photographic proof, thanks to my cousin who is an avid researcher. Our paternal grandfather was a "half-breed". Now, back to this book; the premise far from New, but handled so very well, the action exciting, the romance well sigh-worthy, and the characters great and relatable, some dastardly and more that were admirable and worth a swoon or two. Very highly recommend this one.
This is my 3rd time reading this story but first time reviewing. It's one of my favorite historical romances stories and I love the Native American history written within the story. The angst between Running Wolf and Jenna keeps you on your toes and the supporting cast adds humor and light to the story. I just discovered a second book in this series and I'm excited to read it. 4 Stars!
