The Quicksilver Faire The Scions of Shadow Trilogy Book 2 The Faire Folk Saga Gillian Summers Books
Deep in the woods of Northern Canada, magic is leaking out to the human world and the Fae and the Elves are on the brink of war because of it. With her half-elf background, as well as some Fae blood, Keelie Heartwood is sent by her father as a mediator to the issue. Accompanying her are her boyfriend Sean, her fairy cat Knot, and her frenemy elf Elia. To succeed she must travel to the dangerous Quicksilver Faire and the home of the High Court of the Fae. The situation quickly turns more dangerous than Keelie had ever imagined with her old nemesis, Peascod and his goblin army turning up for their share of the leaking magic, not to mention a powerful god who has taken in interest in Keelie. While still action packed and entertaining, this was the only book in the series so far that I did not rate five stars. The whimsical humour that made the others so enjoyable is lacking in this novel, and it has a much darker feel than the previous books. While the situation in the magical world is growing more dangerous and conflict more prevalent, it makes sense for the darker turn, but the humour is one of my favorite parts of the Keelie books. It's still present, just not as prominent given the battle scenes and elf politics. I'm looking forward to reading the concluding novel of the series, The Goblin's Curse and seeing how the lives of all my favorite characters turn out.

The Quicksilver Faire The Scions of Shadow Trilogy Book 2 The Faire Folk Saga Gillian Summers Books Reviews
finally I got it! Cant wait to start reading it. I hope it is as good as the others. !
Book in great condition.
Love the series
so glad the saga continues, just don't really care for the artwork on cover
I started the first of these books a few weeks ago and simply can't get enough. From the first Faire Folke trilogy to The Scions of Shadow, Gillian Summers writes quick-paced intriguing stories that have me reaching for the next book to satisfy my newest fantasy book addiction.
Like a healing balm to a weary and complicated life. Love the way it helps me to escape and rejuvenate! Thank you
Okay so... I just read this book. It was downloaded onto my this morning and.. I have finished.
I can't quite say how I really feel about miss Summer's recent book. The beginning was quite enjoyable. From the airplane landing, to Miszrial and Elia, and even to disappearing into the realm of the High Court. This first part was great! It carried the whole vibe of Keelie and her crazy cat, Knot. Sure there were some things I wondered about, were Keelie's and Sean's departure right after their visit to the Redwoods. The book certainly emphasized that this way the case. Where did Coyote come from and where did he go?
When they arrived into the Quicksilver Faire. I had a hard time believing the creatures in that world. It was like i was reading through fogginess and couldn't quite see the full picture of its creatures. I mean don't get me wrong I love the atmosphere of all of characters and events based like Rennies. But, I wish they're weren't so many gaps. Like when did Zeke get there? What was happening on the outside while they were with Queen Vania? What about when she was taken to Under-the-hill? Its like suddenly she popped out of now where (literally) and suddenly she was in a war. They wasn't a working point up to it. It was very fast paced and I had to keep my mind from veering left and right. I kept the story in my mind of what's happening where and who the perpetrators are.
Now I understand Herne's involvement with everybody joining forces to seal the rift and keep the wild magic from escaping and infecting. But was the little pursuing and crushing of Herne and Keelie really needed? Honestly?? I think it would have worked without the little romance-thing. (Besides, when I think of Fae god.. I see somebody like Midor or Finvarra from O.R. Mellings Chronicles of Faerie. Now i definitely wouldn't mind being pursued by some one like them. Not someone who probably has wood ticks and fleas..... ). I think Gillian Summers has to define her characters a lot more. Especially the forest gods, fae, and other creatures she comes up with. Tis my opinion and my only opinion. Regardless of how my experience was.. it was an intriguing read. Look forward to how Keelie destroys Peascod. I fully expect Tavyn to make an appearance because he joins brains with goblin blood. A most potent mix.
